How quickly can you come out?

We find a lot of our work is booked a few weeks in advance, however, for some jobs it is possible to fit these in within a few days. We can discuss a mutually convenient time when you call us.

Do you work at weekends?

Yes. We work on Saturday’s when customers are unavailable during the week. Our normal hours of business are Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm excluding Bank and Public Holidays.

Will I have to wait in all day for you to arrive?

No. We will give you a specific time at which we aim to arrive. If we are running early or late we will contact you by phone.

How big a job can you take on?

Jobs typically range from 30 minutes to a day. We do undertake larger jobs lasting several days. However, in our experience, jobs lasting more than a week are probably best undertaken using a specialist tradesman.

Do you offer a 24hr service?

No. We operate 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank and Public Holidays. We also work on Saturdays when customers are unavailable during the week.

What geographic areas do you cover?

Our base is Cranleigh in Surrey and we operate throughout Surrey and West Sussex. There is no call out fee for jobs within a 15 mile radius of Cranleigh. For our pricing table please refer to Pricing.

Do you do office work?

Yes. Using Simply Handy is a cost effective way to take care of everyday maintenance. Just call us in the usual way, provide us with contact details (name of person organising and their contact number), what needs to be done, and agree a time of arrival. There is no necessity to open a business account, all we ask is you pay our invoice within 14 days.

Do you do tenanted property maintenance?

Yes. Simply Handy does undertake tenanted property maintenance. We work either directly for the landlord or through their Letting Agents. We work on Saturdays which can be convenient for the tenant if access to the property is unavailable during the week.

Are you insured?

Yes, we carry £2M of public liability insurance.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

No. We are a general handyman service only and not Gas Safe registered so we unable to do any work on gas systems and appliances.

Are you a NICEIC accredited electrician?

No. We are a general handyman service and are able to undertake electrical replacement work, for example fitting replacement lights, switches, etc.

How do I book an appointment?

Contact Us! We aim to answer all contacts within 24 hours.

How do you charge?

Simply Handy charges by the hour. This way you are charged only for the time we actually work. A discounted day rate is available for jobs that may take a little longer or where you have various tasks that need undertaking.

Will you supply materials?

Yes. If materials are required we can collect these or arrange delivery. Alternatively, you can supply materials.

Do your rates include materials or specialist tool hire?

No. Materials and the hire of any specialist tools are an extra cost. We are typically used as a labour service, but where we need to supply materials or require specialist tools to complete a task, we will advise you of the likely cost. These costs will be invoiced to you in addition to the hourly charge applicable to the job being undertaken. A deposit may be requested to cover the cost of materials or tool hire in advance of the works being undertaken. We will, of course, fetch materials or tools or arrange for them to be delivered as necessary.

Can I get an estimate for my job?

Simply Handy specialises in smaller jobs which do not lend themselves to estimates. However, if you give us a call, we can usually give you an idea of how long a job similar to yours would take. If, after we start the job, it becomes obvious that the work is clearly going to take a lot longer than expected, we will advise you and discuss the situation.

How do I pay?

Simply Handy accepts cash, cheque, or BACS payment (our preferred payment method).

Do you come with all the right tools?

Yes. Simply Handy have a full range of tools and ladders to tackle a large number of different jobs. We also carry a wide variety of small parts - screws, nails, wall plugs, plug top fuses, etc.

Do you charge a cancellation fee if I change my mind?

Simply Handy reserves the right to impose the minimum charge for any job cancelled by you without giving at least 48 hours’ notice of your intention to do so, excepting cancellation due to inclement weather. Please see our Terms of Business.
